Gartner® has published its Magic Quadrant™ for SaaS Management Platforms (SMPs), and we are proud to announce that Zylo has been evaluated and recognized as a Leader.

Additionally, Zylo is positioned highest on the Ability to Execute axis and furthest on the Completeness of Vision axis. We believe this placement reflects our commitment to helping organizations discover, manage, and optimize their SaaS portfolios with a world-class solution.

For Us, This Recognition Validates the Urgency of SaaS Management. CIOs Must Take Action Now

In our opinion, the publication of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for SMPs signifies a major milestone in the market’s maturation, elevating SaaS Management from a “nice to have” to a critical business strategy.

For years, as SaaS adoption skyrocketed, we saw the challenges escalate: hidden costs and waste in bloated SaaS portfolios, critical security and financial risks, missed renewals, and operational inefficiencies. Even the Wall Street Journal took notice of the SaaS sprawl chaos this year, reporting that companies were struggling to manage an overwhelming number of software vendors, with “simply too much to keep track of.”

We believe the Gartner Magic Quadrant report validates the urgency of addressing SaaS Management. CIOs must act now, making SaaS Management a critical business initiative and allocating the budget for a SaaS Management Platform. The risks of inaction are significant. According to Gartner:

  • Through 2027, organizations that fail to centrally manage SaaS life cycles will remain five times more susceptible to a cyber incident or data loss due to incomplete visibility into SaaS usage and configuration.
  • Through 2027, organizations that fail to attain centralized visibility and coordinate SaaS life cycles will overspend on SaaS by at least 25% due to unused entitlements and unnecessary, overlapping tools.
  • Emerging governmental regulations focused on asset discovery, risk assessment and disclosure require that many organizations maintain an accurate inventory of their application portfolio. Given the lack of visibility into SaaS application usage, most organizations will be unable to fully comply without a centralized SMP, alongside other asset management and security tools.

Our own 2024 SaaS Management Index revealed that, on average, companies use 269 SaaS applications and spend an annual $44.8M on them. Yet a staggering $18M of that investment is wasted each year on unused licenses. To compound the issue, 65% of expensed SaaS apps carry significant security risks.

SaaS Management Has Arrived as a Core Discipline, Equally Important as Security & Governance

It’s a critical problem that demands a critical solution. The need for effective SaaS Management has never been greater.

In fact, Gartner anticipates that over the next 12-18 months, “demand and budget for SaaS management will increase as organizations realize the magnitude of unmanaged SaaS cost, sprawl and risk, while adoption growth remains uncontrolled.”

In our view, the report signals the arrival of SaaS Management as a core discipline for IT, procurement, and Software Asset Management teams. Enterprises are recognizing the necessity of centralizing their fragmented SaaS subscriptions, which represent a significant expense and require ongoing optimization. Managing SaaS applications has become a strategic priority for enterprises, on par with security, governance, and risk management.

We believe this is truly an important inflection point for the SaaS Management industry, and we’re excited to be a part of it.
